MALCOLM JAMAL ROBINSON
My name is Malcolm Robinson and I have always had an interest in collegiate athletics. I am a skilled, persistent, energetic, and a passionate hard worker experienced in sales, sports marketing, and customer service environments.
Growing up in sports, I developed a love for it. After realizing that that my dreams of playing professional basketball were not realistic, I decided that I must find a way to incorporate sports into my future career. After an injury forced me to give up basketball, I decided I wanted to one day be an Athletic Director. My passion for the game wouldn’t allow me to just give up basketball so easily, so in 2008 I became the undergraduate assistant coach for the men’s basketball team.
After graduation, I started to look for an opportunity that would allow me to combine my love for sports with my love for business. I eventually landed an internship with the Savannah State University Athletic Department where I assisted the Director of Athletics Business Operations. Besides starting a career in a collegiate athletic department, I plan on starting a sports and tutorial program that will involve local college students whose goal is to help tutor and coach athletes.
I am currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration with concentration in Sport Management. As a 2010 graduate of Savannah State University, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. I was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on October 1, 1987 but now I reside in Lithonia, Georgia. I am currently employed at LeasePlan USA. LeasePlan USA is the innovative global leader in vehicle leasing and fleet management solutions.
In my experiences, I have proven my ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and maintained good relationships with clients, customers, fans, sponsors, players and staff members while also demonstrating my ability to face rejection, deal with objections, and maintain my composure when facing adversity. As a former game day operations intern, I've seen first-hand the challenges of operational and facility management. Working with the Savannah State athletic department, it was necessary that I maintained a creative, energetic and proactive approach to work, and I believe this same approach will help me in the future. Working in the community to create brand awareness for the Atlanta Dream, I have also developed strong relationships based on listening, trust, mutual respect, and an abiding concern for the ultimate well-being of clients and customers. With my experiences gained from professional internships, I have learned how to turn to manage several projects at once, delegate duties when necessary, work independently, and possess strong organizational skills.
I went into this internship wanting to work in the Athletic Department as an Athletic Director but during thias gthe last week of this experience, found a passion in running a team and coaching.I have learned a lot from Ruben and I have finally regained my passion. Here is a picture of me and Ruben.
This website will showcase my experiences with the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Attached is my resume and if you have any questions, contact me at: [email protected]
